About the Event

What began as a family tradition of frying up Tina Seymour Demoran’s treasured pusharata recipe in her kitchen has grown into Wild at Heart Rescue’s signature holiday fundraiser.

Pusharatas - a beloved Croatian-style fruit-and-citrus doughnut - are more than a sweet treat; they’re a symbol of the Gulf Coast’s rich cultural tapestry. Each year, volunteers gather to prepare these pastries and every purchase helps rescue, rehabilitate, and release native Mississippi wildlife.

Last year, you helped us raise over $7,000! This year, our goal is to top $15,000 - and we can’t do it without you.

Cultural Connection & Mission Impact

Pusharatas have been a cherished part of Mississippi Gulf Coast holiday celebrations for generations, often shared among family, friends, and neighbors. By combining this sweet tradition with our mission, we’ve created an event that feeds the soul and saves lives.

From injured opossums and orphaned raccoons to displaced foxes and songbirds, the proceeds from Pusharatas for Possums directly fund food, shelter, and medical care for animals in need.
